About Us
At Compass Rose, we are a parent-led, nonprofit community committed to empowering families, supporting students, and cultivating a collaborative, hands-on approach to learning. As a supplemental homeschool co-op, our programs are designed to enhance and enrich the curriculum you’re already using at home or through other avenues.
Our mission is to walk alongside families on their homeschooling journey—offering opportunities for connection, academic engagement, and meaningful growth in a positive, inclusive environment. Whether you're just beginning or have years of experience, we believe in the incredible work you're doing and are here to provide encouragement, structure, and support.
Through diverse learning opportunities, interactive classes, and peer-to-peer collaboration, Compass Rose aims to create a space where children thrive, parents feel supported, and the homeschool experience is strengthened through shared community.
What are your safety and
security protocols?
At Compass Rose, the safety and well-being of our students, families, and volunteers are top priorities. We are committed to maintaining a secure and welcoming environment through the following practices:
Background Check Policy
To ensure the safety of all students:
-
Each family must designate one attending adult who will attend & participate in our cooperative with their student(s).
-
A notarized background check is required for that adult and must be submitted to the board prior to the start of the fall semester.
-
Background checks must be completed directly through the State of Tennessee via tn.gov.
-
Background checks from other entities or programs will not be accepted.
-
If another adult (such as a spouse, grandparent, etc.) may interchange or substitute attendance at any point, they must also complete and submit a background check before attending.
This is a self-funded requirement and is mandatory for any adult who may be present in the classroom or working directly with students.
Liability Coverage and Required Forms
To maintain accountability and protect all involved:
-
Compass Rose maintains comprehensive liability insurance and remains in good standing with our provider.
-
All participating families are required to complete the following forms prior to participation:
-
Liability Waiver
-
Photo Release Form
-
These steps help us ensure a safe, respectful, and legally compliant environment for all members of our community.
What curriculum do you utilize?
We utilize Apologia & Gather Round curriculum at this time. These engaging, age-appropriate resources are designed to enhance student learning through hands-on exploration and structured academic content.
When do we meet?
We meet every Tuesday from 9:30am-2:20pm.
We follow Hamilton County school’s calendar. Therefore, any holidays, breaks, or major weather closures will be following their schedule. Exact dates of attendance are provided upon enrollment.
What is your attendance policy?
Consistent attendance is essential to the success of our co-op, both for the students and the smooth operation of our classes. Families are expected to attend each scheduled co-op day unless illness or an emergency prevents it. Because our program relies on parent involvement, absences affect not just your child’s learning, but the classroom and community as a whole.
What does parent-led mean?
As a parent-led co-op, Compass Rose relies on the active involvement of participating families—parents play a vital role by leading classes and supporting our programs. While teaching is a shared responsibility, you won’t be doing it alone. We provide guidance, resources, and a thoughtfully chosen curriculum to support you every step of the way.

There are no exceptions to this rule. Do you have a code of conduct or behavioral expectations for families?
Do you require a statement of faith?
At Compass Rose, we are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone involved—students, parents, and volunteers alike. We have a clear code of conduct in place that outlines behavioral expectations for all participating family members.
Everyone in our community is expected to treat others with kindness, follow co-op guidelines, and contribute to a positive atmosphere. We have zero tolerance for bullying, inappropriate conduct, foul language, or any form of racism or discrimination.
As part of our commitment to inclusivity and safety, we have a full non-discrimination policy available for review during enrollment. All families are required to read and sign this policy, along with our behavioral code, as a condition of participation in the co-op.
No. Compass Rose does not require any statements of faith from members, parents, or students. Participation in the co-op does not depend on professing personal religious beliefs; we simply ask that families respect the Christian values and environment of our community
